Dhuman oversouling

— angels, guardians, guides

"Dhumans are the oversouls of the divine spark souls. One Dhuman is generally responsible for a distinct group of souls, although individual souls may sometimes be oversouled by another Dhuman than the oversoul of the group to which they belong. We use the term ‘oversouling’ in two senses —  incarnate or discarnate  referring to the status of the oversoul, not the oversouled. The oversoul, whether discarnate or incarnate, is always spiritually connected to all members of its group, incarnate or discarnate..."

The individuality of Greta Thunberg is inextricably connected to Sophie Scholl and Joan of Arc. — Adriana Koulias, 2 October 2025

I saw an archangel leading Greta Thunberg, just like the archangel who led Jeanne d'Arc. — Are Thoresen, 2 October 2025

Anthroposophically speaking, much has been said about Greta Thunberg and her karmic affinities with Sophie Scholl and Jeanne d'Arc. Most of this arises from an internalisation of Rudolf Steiner's teachings on archangels and reincarnation.

And several parallels can be found, certainly. As young independent women they stand out as the archetypal opponent of immoral (evil) powers in their day. They share a common identity as ardent critics, political activists and teenage martyrs. Pro-French, Jeanne d’Arc fought to expel the English and was branded a heretic and burnt at the stake. As a Jewish sympathiser, Sophie Scholl was convicted of treason against the Nazi state and guillotined. Pro-Palestine, Greta Thunberg has been framed as a Hamas sympathiser, terrorist, and an enemy of the Israeli state. But are these women one and the same soul? Moreover, are their spirit guardians one and the same? When asked, El Ochre (3 October 2025) offered the following:

Jeanne d'Arc
This warrior-martyr soul appears in Greek legend as Aella, a double-axe-wielding Amazon whose name means 'Whirlwind'. As Jeanne d'Arc she was oversouled by Psalmaia, a female Dhuman or guardian angel, who had previously oversouled the biblical Deborah. As a prophetess Deborah called upon the Israelite forces to fight against their Canaanite oppressors. She predicted that the enemy general Sisera would be delivered into the hands of a woman. He was indeed killed in stealth by Jael, another incarnation of Jeanne d'Arc, when she drove a tent peg through his head while he slept. Aella is shown in this vase painting with a spear.

Sophie Scholl
A martyr soul by nature, she returned during crucial periods of persecution, always sacrificing herself in the defence of others. An early incarnation was as the Essene Hannah who lived among the Jewish Zealots at Masada during the Roman siege in 73 CE. She was a great comfort to the women and children throughout this ordeal. Similarly, she played a legendary role during the Albigensian genocide against the Cathars in the 13th century. She was then the incarnation of Esclarmonde de Foix. Her father, Count of Foix, is shown here in their family seal.

Greta Thunberg
Greta is no reincarnation of Sophie or Jeanne. She is a different soul. Nor is her angel/guardian/guide the same Psalmaia that once oversouled Jeanne d'Arc. 'Psalmaia' is an initiatic name from ancient Atlantis. While no portrait of her exists, we represent her here with the same generic image used for all other Dhumans on this website. Lastly, EL Ochre added that Greta Thunberg is a reincarnation of the marine biologist and conservationist Rachel Carson, now considered the founder of the modern ecological movement.

These remarkable three women demonstrate how certain lives are shaped by the interplay of souls and oversouls — and that the conjoint co-operation between humans and dhumans is far more prevalent than we realise.

Jane Fonda

A recent conversation about the former life and previous career of Greta Thunberg (see Reincarnation and Steiner, 5 October 2025) led to questions about political and environmental activists, specifically Jane Fonda and her known incarnations? Here's what El Ochre had to say (13 October 2025) about her eventful past lives:

During a subsequent life in medieval England she played an active role in the 1381 Peasants' Revolt and is known as Johanna Ferrour, the alleged "chief perpetrator and leader of rebellious evildoers". (Court Roll) Although the acts of violence and mob executions were attributed to her instigation, Johanna's own intentions were that of peaceful though forceful protest. While not prosecuted for any crime, she has since been portrayed in film and literature as a misused and misjudged rebel fighting tyranny.

Jane Fonda's remarkable careers are well known. She has been a performer, many times over, dancing and acting in various cultural contexts. In this regard she did not leave her name to history or legend, except for one instance as Quintilia, the 1st century Roman performer and lover of a senator suspected of plotting against emperor Caligula. She withstood interrogation under torture and did not betray her lover, which won Quintilia the admiration of historians such as Josephus. Caligula subsequently offered her a monetary compensation. Ironically, it was her torturer who ultimately plotted Caligula's assassination. While no activist in today's sense, her life as Quintilia showed resilience and resistance against tyranny.

Jane Fonda's political-environmental protest actions during the mid-to-late 20th century have been similarly misconstrued. While she garnered fame as a dramatic actress both on stage and for the screen, her role in the American counterculture era during the Vietnam War brought her more criticism than acclaim. Her 1972 trip to Hanoi misfired when opposing media used it as propaganda, setting up a 'hero' versus 'traitor' dichotomy, which led to the most complex and polarising incident of her career. The photo of 'Hanoi Jane' seated on a Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun notoriously tarnished her image as an anti-war activist and was, in her own words, a huge mistake: "If I was used, I allowed it to happen. It was my mistake and I have paid and continue to pay a heavy price for it." (JF personal website, 22 July 2011) Once again a misused or misjudged rebel?
